Concrete Repair and Maintenance Go Hand-In-Hand

Finding the right concrete paint for the right surface is not an easy job. There are benefits and drawbacks for each application and their attributes. Many things must be considered before deciding what to use and where. When it comes to a garage or showroom floor, epoxy concrete paint might make the decision a bit easier.

Toughness, durability, and stain resistance are just a few reasons why. An epoxy-coated concrete floor has the ability to resist chemicals that love to chew up floor paint. Although it is ideal for shops and garages, homeowners are also getting the picture. Basement floors can make use of epoxy-based concrete paint’s strong adhesion, waterproof and rustproof qualities.

The job of applying a good concrete paint to any floor can be expensive, but most epoxy paint is relatively inexpensive, and do-it-yourself friendly. It comes in a wide variety of colors, and some can be color-matched on a computer. There are even tricks like blended chips on the wet surface to obtain a creative look. Epoxy concrete paint can do the job for smaller and larger projects. And the protection is there.

There are three different kinds of epoxies bases for concrete paint. Solid-based, which is powerful and toxic, should be used primarily for industrial floors. Solvent-based is less toxic, but also should be used in industry. Water-based is less durable, but ideal for residential use, and much safer. It is more suited to the non-professional.

It is important to remember that some epoxy coating contains toxic ingredients. Professional consultation is a good idea before any form of concrete paint is administered.
