Open Creative Doors Concrete Stamping
Concrete stamping is a fairly easy and inexpensive way to spruce up a patio, driveway, or any other concrete surface. But though pre-made stamps are available to locate and choose from, there are other ways to flex creativity and originality without spending extra money. And the finished product looks good.

Concrete Stamping
Concrete stamping is simply creating patterned surface impressions on freshly laid concrete before it hardens with a stamp tool. Most pre-made tools are rubber, and there are many different aesthetically pleasing patterns to choose from. But it doesn’t have to stop there. Concrete stamping patterns can be made from any impressionable material, as long as they work well with a release agent for proper, even stamp distribution.
For best concrete stamping impressions, a release agent is spread onto the concrete and is pressed with the stamp. With a little color added, it acts as a hardener and will highlight the relief. Most of the release agent will wash away. Its function is to allow the stamp to pull away from the surface evenly. A few taps on top of the stamp with a hammer and the impression is made. Once the concept of concrete stamping is learned, the sky is the limit.
Some care must be exercised though. For any creative project, pre-planning is essential. Some pattern and area drawing will help to achieve the desired effect within the time needed, and there is a window in which to work when the concrete is at its most impressionable. But done right, concrete stamping can be another creative form of art.
