For a Concrete Mix, Use a Concrete Vibrator

A precise mix is vital to the total stability of a concrete structure, and a concrete vibrator is the tool to ensure that mix is complete. For larger structures that will stand the test of time, the job of mixing concrete is extremely specific, and when done properly along with reinforcement, a building can withstand literally years of natural testing.

A concrete vibrator will assist builders when the concrete is mixed in determining whether the mix itself is accurate and any potential problems are apparent. Even pour and air bubbles are examples of what a concrete vibrator will look for during testing. They can range from small wands to large plug in versions for deep pours.

The concrete vibrator spins an off-centred weight as many as 10,000 times per minute, shaking the concrete and dispersing air pockets. The result is a smoother more attractive surface, and a denser stronger body. The bubbles will rise to the surface, and a mortar layer will form, indicating an even mix and unlikely honeycombing.

It is well to note that a concrete vibrator, like any other construction tool, takes training and experience for good safe use. Proper time and technique are essential for this. Although different mixes require different times for the procedure, usually 30 seconds is adequate for a section of concrete. Improper technique such as dragging or pulling can cause air pockets to form and leave grooves.

Even mix is an obvious necessity when building, but to be absolutely sure, use a concrete vibrator.
